Man accused of impersonating law enforcement officer

A 22-year-old Mississippi man was charged Monday with impersonating a peace officer after a St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office deputy caught the man with handcuffs and a Mississippi county sheriff’s office badge that had gone missing years ago, St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert said in a news release.
—Steven Morris, 22, of Claude Fillingance Road in Richton, Mississippi, was arrested at 4:52 p.m. Monday on the charge of false personation of a peace officer.
A deputy observed a man at Walmart on U.S. 90 in Bayou Vista who was begging for money. The deputy also observed that the man had a badge and handcuffs on his hip. The deputy made contact with the man and he was identified as Morris.
Morris initially claimed to be with the “fugitive task force.” The deputy pointed out that the badge belonged to the Forrest County Sheriff’s Office in Mississippi. Morris then admitted that he was not a law enforcement officer.
Continuing the investigation, the deputy contacted the Forrest County Sheriff’s Office and learned that the badge matched the description of one that went missing years ago. Morris was jailed with no bail set.
Hebert reported responding to 41 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrests relating to east St. Mary Parish:
—Lance Terry, 32, of Fairview Street in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 9:10 a.m. Monday on the charge of disturbing the peace.
A deputy responded to a complaint of a disturbance at a business on Southeast Boulevard in Bayou Vista. The deputy collected statements from witnesses that Terry began yelling and cursing at others inside the location. Terry was released on a summons to appear in court Dec. 14.
—James Murray, 28, of Arkansas Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 2:55 p.m. Monday on a warrant for probation violation. While booking Murray at the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center, a correctional officer located the active warrant for his arrest. No bail is set.
Morgan City Police Chief James Blair reported the following arrests:
—Stacey A. Tabor, 34, of Egle Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 9:05 p.m. Monday on the charges of possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, possession of clonazepam with intent to distribute, possession of zolpidem with intent to distribute, possession of Adderall with intent to distribute, possession of drug paraphernalia, transaction involving proceeds from controlled dangerous sub-stance activity, violation of uniform controlled dangerous substance laws-drug free zone and on a warrant with a hold for a probation and parole violation.
The Morgan City Police Department narcotics unit, along with the assistance of the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office narcotics unit, executed a search warrant at a home on Egle Street in Morgan City.
Investigators entered the home and located Tabor, who was identified as an occupant of the home. Authorities searched the home and located suspected methamphetamine, cocaine, clonazepam, zolpidem and Adderall, all of which were suspected to be intended for distribution.
Authorities also located suspected drug paraphernalia along with money, which was believed to have been obtained from the sales of illegal narcotics. The location of the incident was within the area of a drug free zone in violation of uniform controlled dangerous substance laws. Tabor was jailed.
—James Nicholas, 38, of Birch Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 2:35 a.m. Tuesday on the charge of disturbing the peace intoxicated.
A patrolling officer ob-served a person walking in the area of Grizzaffi Street who appeared to be stumbling. The officer spoke with the person, identified as Nicholas, who was believed to be intoxicated. Nicholas was jailed.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported the following arrests:
—Justin Bowyer, 24, of Enterprise Avenue in Patterson, was arrested at 5:47 p.m. Saturday on charges for disturbing the peace fighting and disturbing the peace intoxicated.
Bowyer remains jailed. Bail is set at $646.
—Bethany Crochet, 20, of Enterprise Avenue in Patterson, was arrested at 6:15 p.m. Saturday on a charge for possession of schedule 1 drug. Crochet was released on bail set at $1,500.
—Joani Tucker, 24, of Wise Street in Patterson, was arrested at 10 p.m. Saturday on a charge for disturbing the peace fighting. Tucker was released on bail set at $323.
—Michele Harrell, 51, of Wise Street in Patterson, was arrested at 10 p.m. Saturday on a charge for disturbing the peace fighting. Harrell was released on bail set at $323.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported the following arrests:
—Gerald Booker Jr., 27, of Merry Avenue in Hammond, was arrested at 9:33 p.m. Friday on charges for improper lane usage and suspended driver’s license. Booker was released on bail set at $1,250.
—Dustin Falgout, 21, of Fourth Street in Berwick, was arrested at 4:08 p.m. Saturday on a warrant with St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office for failure to appear. Falgout remains jailed. No bail is set.
—Brian Fitter, 34, of Kelli Drive in Patterson, was arrested at 6:22 p.m. Saturday on the charges of prohibited acts for methamphetamine and resisting an officer. Fitter remains jailed. No bail is set.
Franklin Police Chief Sabria McGuire reported the following arrest:
—Cherie Loustalot, 34, of Lake Palourde Road in Morgan City, was arrested at 3:39 p.m. Friday on the charges of exploitation of the infirmed, possession of acetaminophen and hydrocodone, possession of Lyrica, and parole violation.
Loustalot was allegedly taking the elderly victim’s credit card and making purchases while she was sitting with the victim. Officers allegedly located the narcotics in Loustalot’s possession after she was placed under arrest.
Loustalot was booked, processed, and transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center.
