Berwick finishes weekend 4-0 at Lady Tiger Classic

Berwick finished 4-0 Saturday at Morgan City’s annual Lady Tiger Classic.
The Lady Panthers defeated Carencro, Sulphur, Covenant Christian and New Iberia, without dropping a set.
Against Carencro, Berwick won 25-11, 25-13.
As a team, the Lady Panthers recorded 12 aces.
Brittney Roberie led Berwick with three aces and 15 digs. Other top contributors included Mary Jordan Melancon, two aces, three kills, seven assists and five digs; Alyssa Gray, two aces, three kills, one block, four assists and two digs; Sydney Aucoin, eight kills and one dig; Roslyn Gros, three aces and five digs; and Emma Hover, eight digs.
Against Sulphur, Berwick won 25-18, 25-20
Gray led Berwick with three kills, one block, seven assists and seven digs. Other top contributors included Melancon, four kills, four assists and nine digs; Roberie, three aces and 12 digs; Jordan Lipari, one ace, one kill and six digs; Maci Broussard, one ace and five digs; Lauren Skinner, two kills, one block and one dig; and Aucoin, four kills.
Against Covenant Christian, Berwick won 25-4, 25-4.
As a team, Berwick had 22 aces.
Gray led the team with two aces, one kill, one block, five assists and three digs. Other top contributors included Broussard, nine aces and three digs; Roberie, six aces and five digs; Morgan Toups, four aces and three kills; Aucoin, three kills, one block and one dig; and Skinner, four kills.
Against New Iberia, Berwick was victorious 25-22, 25-10.
As a team, Berwick had seven aces and 62 digs.
Roberie led Berwick with two aces and 20 digs. Other top contributors included Melancon, three kills, three assists and nine digs; Gray, two aces, one kill, three assists and five digs; Hover, 10 digs; Aucoin, four kills, one assist and four digs; Lipari, one kill and seven digs; Skinner, four kills, one block and two digs; and Broussard, three aces and four digs.
Berwick competed in the White Division, which Thibodaux won Saturday with a 2-1 (15-25, 25-6, 15-12) victory against South Lafourche.
Berwick (7-8) will return to action Tuesday when it hosts Assumption. Assumption was ranked No. 2 in Division II, according to Louisiana High School Athletic Association Power Rankings through Sept. 13. Berwick was ranked No. 31 in Division III.
MCHS finishes weekend
0-2 at its tourney
Morgan City finished 0-2 this weekend at its annual Lady Tiger Classic, falling to Episcopal School of Acadiana and Westlake Saturday.
Against Episcopal School of Acadiana, Morgan City fell 2-0 (25-19, 25-8).
Sh’diamond Holly led Morgan City with five kills and one solo block. Other top contributors included Abby Reynaud, one kill and five assists; Katelyn Gautreaux, four digs; and Hallie Blanchard, one ace and two digs.
Against Westlake, Morgan City fell 2-0 (25-16, 25-19).
Reynaud led Morgan City with seven assists and four digs. Other top contributors included Mckenzi Smith, three kills and seven digs; Gautreaux, one ace and seven digs; Karmen Peterson, three kills; and Nia Lightfoot, one kill and one solo block.
In the Green Division final Saturday, Comeaux defeated Newman, 2-1 (23-25, 25-19, 15-13).
Morgan City (3-9) will return to action Tuesday when it hosts Patterson. Admission will be $1 for students with a Pink T-shirt and $3 for adults with a Pink T-shirt. After expenses, the gate will be donated to the Lady Tigers’ Paint the Pit Pink Fund, which helps those in the area suffering from cancer.

MCHS tourney
Patterson finished 1-2 Saturday in the White Division of Morgan City High School’s Lady Tiger Classic, falling to Sulphur, defeating West St. Mary and falling to Carencro.
Patterson fell 2-0 (25-9, 25-9) to Sulphur, beat West St. Mary 2-0 (25-20, 25-11) and fell to Carencro 2-0 (25-8, 25-11).
No individual statistics were available from these matches.
Thursday, Patterson fell to Thibodaux 2-0 (27-25, 25-19).
Makayla Ruiz led Patterson with three aces, four kills and 10 digs. Other top contributors included Erykah Singleton, four kills and three blocks; Josie Merida, three digs and four assists; Katelyn Larson, seven digs; and Kiora Grady, three kills and two blocks.
Patterson (2-7) will return to action Tuesday when it travels to take on Morgan City.
Central Catholic falls
to Dominican
Central Catholic fell in four games to Dominican Monday.
While the Lady Eagles dropped the first set, 25-15, they rebounded with a 25-20 victory in game two. However, Dominican won the third and fourth sets, 25-16 and 25-22, respectively.
During the weekend, Central Catholic went 1-1 at Academy of Our Lady, defeating De La Salle 2-1 (19-25, 25-11, 15-9) but falling to Academy of Our Lady 2-0 (25-21, 25-21).
No individual stats were available for any of these games.
Central Catholic (11-7) will return to action Tuesday when it hosts South Terrebonne for the Central Catholic’s Pink Game. South Terrebonne was ranked No. 3 in Division II in the Louisiana High School Athletic Power Rankings through Sept. 13. Central Catholic was ranked No. 7 in Division V in polls through the same period.
