Sheriff: Woman tried to discard crystal meth

A 42-year-old Berwick woman was arrested after attempting to discard crystal meth from the car, St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert said in a news release.
—Amy C. Turner, 42, of the 2900 block of Fourth Street in Berwick, was arrested at 10:32 p.m. Tuesday for obstruction of justice, possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
The St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Section K-9 Unit conducting a traffic stop observed a passenger throw an item from the vehicle. The detective made contact with the passenger, identified as Turner.
The item, a container, was recovered. Inside the container, detectives located several baggies holding large shards of crystal methamphetamine.
Detectives received consent to search Turner’s purse and also located plastic baggies, a digital scale and a glass pipe. Following the investigation, Turner was transported to the parish jail for booking. No bail is set.
Hebert also reported responding to 29 complaints and reported the following arrests in east St. Mary Parish:
—Adrian Billiot, 34, of the 300 block of Franklin Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 3:54 p.m. Tuesday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of simple battery and disturbing the peace.
A deputy located Billiot at her residence on the warrant and transported her to the parish jail for booking. Billiot was released on bail set at $5,000.
—Eduardo Sarabia, 39, of the 600 block of 79 Pines Lane in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 10:58 pm Tuesday on a charge of unlawful use of state-issued identification to gain access to a gaming establishment or in conjunction with gaming activities.
A deputy responded to a complaint at the Amelia Belle Casino in Amelia. The deputy learned from casino security personnel that Sarabia attempted to gain entry into the gaming establishment by using a fake Texas ID.
When questioned by the deputy about the ID card, Sarabia admitted that it was fake. Sarabia was transported to the parish jail for booking. No bail is set.
Morgan City Police Department reported the following arrests:
—Charleston J. Grogan, 21, of Wren Street in Morgan City, was arrested 9:19 a.m. Tuesday on warrants for failure to appear for possession of marijuana (two times) and contempt of court (two times).
Grogan was located by officers at an address on La. 70 where he was arrested on several active arrest warrants held by the 6th Ward Morgan City Court.
Grogan was transported to the Morgan City Jail where he was booked and incarcerated.
—Lectoria Grogan, 27, of St. Clair Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 3:43 p.m. Tuesday on warrants for failure to appear for criminal damage to property, disturbing the peace while intoxicated, resisting an officer and simple battery.
Grogan was transported from the Avoylees Correctional Center to the Morgan City Police Department in regard to several active arrest warrants held by the 6th Ward Morgan City Court.
Grogan was booked into the Morgan City Jail and incarcerated.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported the following arrest:
—Tiara Kennedy, 23, of Hanson Place in Kenner, was arrested today at 12:53 a.m. on the charges of speeding going 67 mph in a 45 mph speed zone, driving under suspension, and switching license plates.
Kennedy remains jailed. Bail is set at $1,750.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported the following arrest:
—George Favors III, 49, of the 1600 block of Cherry Street in Patterson, was arrested at 8:18 p.m. Tuesday for failure to appear on the charges of possession of cocaine and criminal neglect of family.
Favors remains jailed. Bail is set at $30,000 on the cocaine charge and $1,381 on the criminal neglect charge.
