WAYNE JOHN GUILLOTTE

Wayne John Guillotte, 73, a native and resident of Morgan City, passed away Sunday, Sept. 25, 2016, at Patterson Healthcare Center in Patterson due to congestive lung disorder.
Wayne is survived by his brother, Ronald J. Overhultz, a native of Morgan City and resident of Belle River. He is also survived by his niece, Melanie O. Phillips and husband Scotch; two great-nieces, Makenna Phillips and Ella Phillips; and a great-nephew, Taylor Phillips, all residents of Hattiesburg, Mississippi.
Wayne was preceded in death by his father, Emmet John Guillotte; his mother, Dorothy “Deetsie” Arbaugh Guillotte Delaune and husband Charles (stepfather of Wayne); and one sister-in-law, Sharon Perera Overhultz.
He was a Vietnam Veteran of the United States Army and served with CO A 25th Aviation Battalion “Little Bears” U-H-1D attack helicopter, crew chief and door gunner. He was a SP4 class and was attached to the 25th Infantry Division at Cu-Chi Vietnam 1966-1967. He was awarded several medals and ribbons which included: Air Medal with “V” device for valor, National defense service medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Overseas Service Bar, and Marksmanship Medal M-60 Machine Gun.
He was employed as a plant operator at the Morgan City Municipal Power Plant and he retired after 31 years.
The family would like to thank Dr. William Cefalu Jr., and Dr.’s Fretz, Berry, Benson, Leonard, Metz and Lafaye, the staff at Maison Jardin and Patterson Healthcare Center, Ms. Pat Cooper and Ms. Myrna Hernandez for the wonderful care they provided for Wayne.
Wayne will be cremated and a private service will be held at a later date for the immediate family, per his wishes.
