CALIXTA MARTINEZ

Calixta Martinez, a longtime resident of Morgan City, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2016, with her devoted son and grandson by her side. A native of Cuba, Calixta came to the United States on Sept. 11, 1964, seeking freedom with her family.
Calixta is survived by her son, Miguel Martinez; grandson, Roberto Martinez; and many other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Pascual “Nano” Martinez; daughter-in-law, Mirta Martinez; grandson, Ricardo “Ricky” Martinez; her parents, Romon and Romana Dominguez; and eight brothers and sisters.
The family requests that visitation be observed today, Friday Oct. 21, 2016, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and again on Saturday, Oct. 22 from 9 a.m. until time of dismissal at Hargrave Funeral Home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place Saturday, Oct. 22 at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with burial following in the Morgan City Cemetery.
