ROBERTA ETHEL EDGAR THOMPSON

March 31, 1947-October 23, 2016
Roberta Thompson, 69 years old, a resident of Patterson, Louisiana, passed away shortly after midnight on Oct. 23, 2016, at Teche Regional Medical Center.
Roberta was born in Honolulu. After high school graduation, she moved to California to study for her nursing career. She started as a licensed vocational nurse, acquired her RN and finally became a Nurse Case Manager.
She worked for the Veterans Administration in California, ER nurse at Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston MA, North Slope Borough, Prudhoe Bay AK, and the International Medical Corps, Tegucigalpa, Honduras. Finally settling in Patterson in 1986, working first as a Home Health Nurse, then working until her illness as a Nurse Case Manager for several private insurance groups.
She is sadly missed by all who knew her, especially her husband, Roger Thompson, also of Patterson.
She is also survived by two sisters and their husbands, Maggie and Rich Cooks of Sebastopol, California, and Bonnie and Ken Lindquist of Chicago.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bert and Ethel Edgar of Honolulu; and a niece, Kathryn Iva of California.
Roberta donated her body to The Bureau of Anatomical Services for the advancement of medical education and research.
A memorial and celebration of life for Roberta is planned for Nov. 20, 2016, at her former residence.
