Police: Man threatened to kill girlfriend, officer

A 35-year-old Patterson man was booked Tuesday after he threatened to kill his girlfriend and a Patterson police officer, Police Chief Patrick LaSalle said.
—Derrick Johnson, 35, of Leo Drive in Patterson, was arrested at 8:55 p.m. Tuesday on the charges of disturbing the peace, two counts of simple criminal damage to property over $100, aggravated criminal damage to property over $100, aggravated assault and threatening a public official.
The arrest stems from an incident where Johnson appeared to be high and threatened to kill his girlfriend with a weapon and also threatened to kill a police officer, LaSalle said. Johnson knocked out a glass in a vehicle while his girlfriend was in the vehicle, the chief said.
When police transported Johnson to the police department, he was still combative so officers placed him in a “safety chair” with restraints, LaSalle said. No bail is set yet.

—Willie Hayes Jr., 36, of Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue in Patterson, was arrested at 5:13 p.m. Tuesday on a warrant charging him with simple battery of a juvenile, contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile and disturbing the peace. Hayes was released on $867 bail.
Morgan City Police Chief James Blair reported the following arrests:
—Alvin J. Fitch, 30, of Honey Lane in Morgan City, was arrested at 12:50 a.m. Wednesday on a warrant charging him with theft over $5,000.
Fitch was transported from the Berwick Police Department to the Morgan City Police Department on a warrant. The warrant stems from an incident in October in which Fitch allegedly stole about $6,000 from a home. Fitch was jailed.
—Gary Mitchell, 56, of Canary Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 3:18 p.m. Tuesday on a warrant charging him with failure to pay fines and direct contempt of court.
Mitchell was arrested in city court for disrupting court proceedings. Mitchell also held an active city court warrant. Mitchell was jailed.
—Dearius D. Kenner, 29, of Grace Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday on a warrant charging him with telephone harassment.
Kenner was transported from the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center in Centerville to the Morgan City Police Department on a warrant. Kenner was jailed.
—Sammy Ordoyne, 41, of Glenwood Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 3:21 p.m. Tuesday on the charge of theft of utilities.
Officers responded to a home on Glenwood Street in regard to theft of utilities. Officers arrived and located a witness, who stated that there was an illegal connection of utilities from one of the apartments.
Police found evidence of the illegal connection and made contact with the resident, Ordoyne, who admitted to the theft, Blair said. Ordoyne was jailed.
—Shannon Charlie, 37, of Taft Street in Patterson, was arrested at 9:57 p.m. Tuesday on the charges of general speed law, two counts of possession of a Schedule IV controlled dangerous substance, introduction of contraband in a penal institute, driving under suspension and no child passenger restraint system.
A patrol officer in the area of Martin Luther King Boulevard near U.S. 90 saw a vehicle speeding and conducted a stop. The driver, Charlie, was asked to produce a valid driver’s license. While speaking with Charlie, the officer observed a small child in the rear of the vehicle not restrained in a car seat.
Charlie was found to have a suspended driver’s license. The child was released to a guardian. Charlie was transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking. Once at the police department, a corrections officer located several Diazepam and Clonazepam pills during a search. Charlie was jailed.
—McKenzie Gobert, 21, of Egle Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 2:50 a.m. Wednesday on the charges of driving under suspension, expired license plate, possession of marijuana first offense, no tail lamps and on a St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office warrant for failure to appear on the charge of speeding.
A patrol officer in the area of Onstead Street and Federal Avenue saw a vehicle with improper lighting. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver, Gobert, was asked to produce a valid driver’s license.
Gobert’s driver’s license was suspended. While speaking with the Gobert, the officer observed a cellophane bag containing suspected marijuana on the floor of the driver side of the vehicle. Gobert was jailed.
St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported responding to 44 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrests in east St. Mary Parish:
—Larry Delahoussaye, 55, of Taurinac Street in New Iberia, was arrested at 4:54 p.m. Tuesday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of theft. A correctional officer transported Delahoussaye from the Iberia Parish jail to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center on the warrant. Delahoussaye was released on $1,000 bail.
—Michelle Cothron, 55, of Clarke Road in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 5:19 p.m. Tuesday on the charge of theft and criminal trespass.
On Nov. 28, a deputy responded to a report of a theft of Christmas decorations from a yard on Middle Road in Bayou Vista. During the investigation, the deputy learned that a person was seen on video surveillance taking a set of Christmas lollipop lights from the resident’s yard.
A portion of the video was released to the public and media in an effort to recover the stolen decorations. Deputies received tips regarding the crime and developed Cothron as a suspect in the case.
Deputies located the stolen items on display at Cothron’s home along with other evidence identifying her as the person in the video. While speaking with deputies, Cothron also admitted to stealing the decorations, Hebert said. She was booked into parish jail and released on $2,500 bail. The Christmas decorations were returned to the owner.
—Brett J. Keton, 22, of Glenmont Drive in Morgan City, was arrested at 6:43 p.m. Tuesday on two warrants for failure to comply with the terms and conditions of drug court. A deputy transported Keton from the Jefferson Parish jail to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center on the warrants. Bail is set at $200,000.
—A juvenile male, 13, of Morgan City, was arrested at 12:42 a.m. Wednesday on the charge of curfew violation. A deputy observed a vehicle driving on La. 182 in Morgan City with no lit headlights. The deputy conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, and a 13-year-old passenger. The deputy found that the juvenile was not with a guardian. Following an investigation, the deputy released the juvenile to a guardian pending juvenile court proceedings.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported the following arrest:
—Alvin Fitch, 30, of Honey Lane in Morgan City, was arrested at 11:19 p.m. Tuesday on a Morgan City police warrant charging him with felony theft. Fitch was transported to the Morgan City Police Department.
