Hanson Lady Tigers defeat Centerville
CENTERVILLE _ Casey Fitzgerald poured in 23 points, leading the Hanson Lady Tigers to a 61-45 District 7-1A victory over the Centerville Lady Bulldogs here Tuesday at the Centerville High School Gym.
Hanson improved to 16-3 overall and 2-2 in District 7-1A action with the win.
Hanson Memorial benefited from a 23-3 second quarter lead of which it never relinquished. Hanson opened with a narrow 13-10 lead at the end of the first stanza. The Lady Tigers soared ahead by a 26-13 margin at intermission. Both teams poured in 12 points at the end of the third quarter before Centerville went on a 20-13 run in the fourth quarter in the 61-45 loss to Hanson Memorial in league play.
Hanson Casey Fitzgerald led all scorers with 23 points on five treys, three deuces and 2 of 2 free throws. She also tallied 3 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals on the night.
Allyssa Young tossed in 15 points on five deuces, one trey and 1 of 3 free throws along with seven rebounds, 6 assists and 2 steals.
Carlie Pellerin connected on six floor shots for 12 points while also grabbing two rebounds and two assists.
Sarah Daniel finished with six points with hauling in 13 rebounds
Rounding out the scoring for the Hanson Lady Tigers were: Lunden Verdin, 3 points; Noel Baker, 2 points, 6 rebounds and Baylee Young, 1 point, 8 rebounds and 5 blocks.
Hailey McDaniel led the Lady Bulldogs with 20 points on seven field goals, including three treys, and 3 of 4 free throws.
Rylie Candella fired in 15 points on four treys and 3 of 6 free throws and Alyrria Austin bagged 10 points on one trey, three deuces and 1 of 4 freebies.
