Wolfpack cruises to 56-28 victory over Panthers

BALDWIN _ Duante Charles fired in 21 points while Tywan Polidore tossed in 17 points, leading the West St. Mary Wolfpack to a 56-28 victory over the Catholic High School of New Iberia Panthers in the District 5-2A opener here Tuesday at West St. Mary High School Gym.
West St. Mary rolled to a 16-4 first quarter lead. At the half, the Wolfpack flexed its muscles to a lop-sided 30-5 advantage.
West St. Mary built an insurmountable 47-22 lead at the end of three quarters.
The Wolfpack posted the 56-28 victory over the Panthers in the district opener.
Charles led all scorers with 21 points on five treys and three deuces.
Rounding out the scorers for West St. Mary were: C. Snowden, 9; C. Blake, 3; J. Defils, 3; O. Phillips, 2 and W. Armelin, 1.
M. Hulin led Catholic High in scoring with 10 points.
West St. Mary will return to league play Friday at Delcambre.
Centerville drops to 11-5 overall and 3-2 in 7-1A. LCA improves to 13-2 overall and 5-0 in 7-1A. Centerville will be at Vermilion Catholic on Friday.
LAFAYETTE CHRISTIAN 87, CENTERVILLE 41
CENTERVILLE _ The Lafayette Chrisitian Academy Knights posted an 87-41 Centerville High School win over the Centerville Bulldogs in District 7-1A action here Monday at the CHS Gym.
Centerville dropped to 11-5 overall and 3-2 in 7-1A
LCA improved to 13-2 overall and 5-0 in 7-1A. Centerville will be at Vermilion Catholic on Friday.
Leading scorers for LCA were: Caleb Starks, 19; Kailen Thibodeaux, 10; Greg Williams, 10; Terrance Jones, 8 and Victor Dupre, 8.
Centerville’s top scorers were: Lance Howard, 15; Jackson Hebert, 9; Jaylon Williams, 7; Marquis Strawder, 3 Deandre Kinchen, 3; Jaqualon Bourgeois, 3 and Ryan Young, 1.
