Two arrested on drug charges after home search
Two people were arrested on several drug charges after Morgan City police found marijuana, other drugs and guns inside an Allison Street home, Police Chief James Blair said in a news release.
—Jared A Perry, 35, of Allison Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 11:24 p.m. Wednesday on the charges of possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of Adderall, possession of Alprazolam, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of firearm while in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance, transaction involving proceeds from drug offenses and violation of uniformed controlled dangerous substance laws-drug free zone.
—Natalina M. Perry, 27, of Allison Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 11:24 p.m. Wednesday on the charges of possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute, possession of Adderall, possession of Alprazolam, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of firearm while in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance, transaction involving proceeds from drug offenses and violation of uniformed controlled dangerous substance laws-drug free zone.
Narcotics detectives executed a search warrant at a home on Allison Street in Morgan City. While entering the home, investigators located two people identified as Jared Perry and Natalina Perry who were believed to reside at the home.
A search of the home was conducted when investigators located a large amount of marijuana which was believed to be intended for distribution, Adderall, Alprazolam, drug paraphernalia, several firearms and cash, which was believed to have been obtained from the sales of illegal narcotics.
The location of the incident was within the area of a drug free zone in violation of uniformed controlled dangerous substance laws. Both Jared Perry and Natalina Perry were jailed.
Blair reported the following arrests:
—Leeann N. Jones, 30, of Azalea Drive in Donner, was arrested at 2 p.m. Wednesday on warrants for failure to appear on the charges of no driver’s license and no turn signal. Jones, who was already incarcerated in the Morgan City jail, was booked on city court warrants.
—Donnie Reed, 63, of Louisiana Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 12:08 a.m. Thursday on the charges of possession of cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia.
A patrolling officer observed a person on a bicycle swerving into traffic on Glenwood Street and stopped the person on the bicycle, Reed, who appeared to have minor injuries. Reed told the officer that he had just fallen off the bicycle, which caused the injuries. First responders arrived on scene and treated Reed for his injuries.
The officer observed Reed discard a small bag onto the ground. Reports indicate that the bag was retrieved by the officer which contained suspected crack cocaine. Reed was jailed.
St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported responding to 37 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrests in east St. Mary Parish:
—Cathy Duval, 54, of Burchfield Lane in Berwick, was arrested at 11:01 a.m. Wednesday on the charges of possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
A deputy went to a home on Guzzetta Drive in Berwick to serve an arrest warrant in an unrelated case and encountered Duval. While speaking with her, the deputy smelled the strong odor of marijuana coming from the residence and received consent to search.
The deputy located a marijuana cigarette in Duval’s purse and a grinder and rolling papers in a room of the residence. Duval was released on a summons to appear in court May 10.
—Doneyda G. Canizales, 34, of Pluto Street in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 3:16 p.m. Wednesday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of operating a vehicle without lawful presence in the Unites States of America, hit and run driving, and ignoring a stop sign.
A deputy came into contact with Canizales while responding to an unrelated complaint on Pluto Street. The deputy located the active warrant for Canizales and transported her to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center. Canizales was released on $5,000 bail.
—Glenda Dinger, 43, of Old Jeanerette Road in Jeanerette, was arrested at 7:48 p.m. Wednesday on the charge of simple battery.
A deputy responding to a report of a disturbance at a home in Patterson stopped a vehicle that was leaving the location. The deputy made contact with Dinger and detained her. The deputy then found evidence that Dinger went to the residence confronted a female subject, grabbed her and pulled her hair.
Dinger was booked into parish jail and released on $2,500 bail.
—Kari Warden, 31, of Railroad Avenue in Morgan City, was arrested at 9:59 p.m. Wednesday on two warrants for theft of goods. The warrants were issued as the result of two shoplifting investigations in January and February at stores in Amelia and Bayou Vista.
Deputies collected evidence that Warden exited both stores with items that she did pay for. A deputy conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in a parking lot of a business off U.S. 90 in Bayou Vista, made contact with Warden, and located the active warrants for her arrest. Warden was released on a summons to appear in court May 10.
—Sydnie W. Harrison, 20, of Arenz Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 9:59 pm for reckless operation of a vehicle, no driver’s license, and on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of possession of marijuana. A deputy observed a vehicle driving recklessly in a parking lot of a business off U.S. 90 in Bayou Vista and conducted a traffic stop.
The deputy spoke with the driver, Harrison, and found that she was operating the vehicle without a driver’s license. The deputy also located the active warrant for her arrest. Warden was jailed with no bail set.
—Allen Escort, 52, of Arizona Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 10:20 p.m. Wednesday on the charges of rear bicycle lamps required and resisting an officer.
Narcotics detectives patrolling Morgan City observed a man riding a bicycle without lights on Idaho Street and stopped to speak with him. When a detective approached and identified himself as a law enforcement officer, the man fled on the bike.
The detective pursued the man on foot and detained him. Following an investigation, Escort was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center. Escort was released on $2,750 recognizance bail.
—Shelly Lacaze, 39, of Arcemont Lane, Patterson, was arrested at 1:14 a.m. Thursday on the charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of Roxicodone, possession of drug paraphernalia and obstruction of justice.
—David E. Pearce, 41, of La. 182 in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 1:28 a.m. Thursday on the charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.
Narcotics detectives conducted a traffic stop after observing a vehicle cross the fog line several times on U.S. 90 in the Patterson area. Detectives spoke with the driver, Pearce, and a passenger, Lacaze. While conducting the traffic stop investigation, a detective observed Lacaze attempting to conceal an item on her person.
The item, a silver container, was retrieved. Inside, detectives found a small bag of methamphetamine and a Roxicodone pill. K-9 Buddy was deployed and indicated an odor response of illegal drugs in the vehicle. Detectives conducted a search of the truck and located a scale containing methamphetamine residue belonging to Pearce.
Pearce was released on a summons to appear in court May 10. Lacaze was jailed with no bail set.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported no arrests.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported no arrests.
