Alvin Bernard

Alvin Bernard, 79, born in Arnaudville, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2014, at his home in Bunkie surrounded by his loving family, following a lengthy battle with cancer.
Alvin will always be remembered for his quick sense of humor and his natural ability to fix, invent or improve anything he set his mind to. He will be greatly missed and fondly remembered always.
He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Martha Verrett Bernard; three daughters, Julie and her husband, Murphy LaCoste Jr., Angie and her husband, Kenneth Anderson, and Sally and her husband, Jimmie Guidry; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one sister, Verna Mae and her husband, Louis Cheek; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Alvin was preceded in death by his parents, Simon Bernard and Lydia Comeaux; and one brother, Elton Joseph Bernard.
Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 6, 2014, at Twin City Funeral Home with a visitation being held from 10 a.m. until the time of the services.
