A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday, Sept. 13, 2014, at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Patterson for Mrs. Catherine Tierney Wilson, a New Orleans native and longtime resident of Patterson, who passed away Thursday, Sept. 11, 2014, at 1:30 p.m. at Teche Regional Medical Center with her family by her side.
She will be laid to rest in the St. Joseph Church Cemetery. Father Herb Bennerfield will officiate the services. Serving as pallbearers will be Chris Wilson, Jack Rock, Steven Wilson, Jody Theriot Jr., Tyler Wilson, Sean Wilson and Chelsey Theriot.
A gathering of family and friends will be held today, Friday, Sept. 12, at Ibert’s Mortuary in Patterson from 6 to 9 p.m. with the rosary being prayed at 6:30 p.m. Visiting will resume Saturday, Sept. 13, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Patterson from 8 a.m. until the time of service.
Mrs. Catherine was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother. A caring woman, she was always ready to help anyone in need. She was also an avid Saints fan. She will be greatly missed.
Survivors include her husband, James J. Wilson Sr.; four children, Nancy Espana and her husband, Miguel, of Jeanerette, James J. Wilson Jr. and his wife, Pauline, of Centerville, Paul Wilson and his wife, Lisa, of Patterson and Bonnie Duval and her husband, Jerry, of Patterson; one brother, Roland Tierney, of Houston; one sister, Anna Mae Leonard, of Algiers; 14 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John Tierney and Grace Weber Tierney; and one brother, John Tierney Jr.
