Funeral services for Charles Ray Cowart will be held Thursday, Feb. 9, 2017, at 10 a.m. at Ibert’s Mortuary in Franklin, with Rev. Bobby Hodnett officiating. Following funeral services, Charles will be laid to rest in Pine Grove Cemetery in Winnsboro, La., with Rev. Paul Perry conducting the grave side service at 3:30 p.m. A gathering of family and friends will be held Thursday at Ibert’s Mortuary from 8 a.m. until time of service at 10 a.m.
Charles was a native of Winnsboro, La. and a longtime resident of Franklin who passed away unexpectedly at the age of 59 in the early morning hours of Monday, Feb. 6, 2017, at Teche Regional Medical Center in Morgan City.
Survivors include his wife of 27 years, Angelle Marie Charpentier Cowart; three children, Christopher James Cowart, Brandi Cowart Rodriguez and her husband Jake, and Troy Charles Cowart; three grandchildren, Evelyn Cowart, Layken Rodriguez, and Raphael “Ray” Rodriguez V; his mother, Margaret Ann Peevy Cowart; and three siblings, Floyd James Cowart Jr. and his wife Amelia, Margaret Ann Cowart Couvillier and her husband Larry, and Tommy Lynn Cowart.
He was preceded in death by his father, Floyd James Cowart Sr.
