Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2015 at 11 a.m., with visitation from 9 a.m. to 10:45 a.m., at St. Joseph Baptist Church, 878 Irish Bend Road in Franklin, for Mr. Charles Rogers Guy who died Tuesday, April 28, 2015.
Services will be conducted by the Rev. Ronald Young.
Entombment will be in Franklin Cemetery’s Mausoleum.
Charles’ 70 year journey on earth began March 7, 1945 as the last baby boy born to Andrew and Lizzie William Guy. While attending Grambling State University he was drafted into the United States Marine Corps where he later served in the Vietnam War, achieved the ranking of sergeant, and earned several awards, including two purple hearts for his bravery.
Other than his initial employment at Cabot Corporation, Charles was employed over 31 years at Shell Exploration & Production Company.
Celebrating his life are his daughter, Lolanda Guy Brown (Edward Jr.) of Jeanerette; his son, Eric Vaughn Guy (Chandra) of Atlanta, GA; four loving grandchildren, Caleb, Dynasty, Treneice and Nyah; his siblings, Huey K. Guy (Mary) of Chicago, IL and Isabella G. Williams of Franklin; brother-in-law, Rev. James (Jeanette) Hatcherson of San Diego, CA; sisters-in-law, Alice (James) Reed of Baldwin, Brenda H. Prejean of Lafayette, Joanne Guy of Franklin; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Charles was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Alzena Hatcherson Guy; his parents; four sisters, Maude, Louise, Frances and Sylvia and one brother, Andrew.
