DOUGLAS M. “DOUG” FREDERICK

December 17, 1942 — September 2, 2016
Funeral services for Douglas M. “Doug” Frederick will be held Wednesday, September 7, 2016, at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Baldwin during a 2 p.m. Mass of Christian burial. Following the Mass, Doug will be cremated with a private inurnment held at a later date in the Sacred Heart Cemetery. Father Bill Melancon will be the Celebrant for the Mass and conduct the services.
A gathering of family and friends will be held Tuesday, September 6, at Ibert’s Mortuary in Franklin from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m., with the Holy Rosary being prayed at 7 p.m. Visitations will resume at Ibert’s on Wednesday at 10 a.m. and continue until time of dismissal at 1:30 p.m.
Doug, as he was affectionately known, was a native of Abbeville and a 39 year resident of Baldwin. He passed away at the age of 73 on Friday, September 2, 2016, at his home. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Thor D’Avy Frederick; two sons, Douglas M. Frederick II and Eric J. Frederick; four grandchildren, Meghan, Hallie, Alyssa, and Zachary Frederick; one brother, Leonard Frederick and his wife, Judy, three sisters, Barbara F. Beadle, Yvonne F. Baudoin and her husband, Lee; and Shirley F. Delhomme and her husband, Willis; his former daughters-in-law, Lynn Frederick and Rosalind Frederick; special friends, Mark and Paula Loveless; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one son, Philip G. Frederick; his parents, Sidney John Frederick, Sr. and Anna Thibodeaux Frederick; one brother, Sidney John Frederick Jr.; one brother-in-law, Clayton Beadle; and three nephews, Timothy Delhomme, Travis Baudoin and John Lee Baudoin.
The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to his nurses and caregiver, Alida McGuire, Jennifer Blanchard, Yolanda Washington, as well as the staff of Heart of Hospice - Bayou Region for the loving and compassionate care given to Doug.
