Memorial services for Edward Parker Evans will be held Tuesday, September 30, 2014, at 11 a.m., at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Franklin, with a gathering of family and friends being held Monday, September 29, 2014, at Ibert’s Mortuary from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. The Rev. Dr. Calvin Lane will officiate the memorial service.
Parker was an intelligent and intellectually curious young man and possessed a unique sense of humor. He was born in New Orleans and was a resident of Franklin, where he participated for years in Franklin Boy Scout Troop #1, and was an enthusiastic member of the Quiz Bowl Team and Science Olympiad at Centerville High School. Surrounded by his family, Parker passed away peacefully at the tender age of 16 on Friday, September 26, 2014, at 8:30 p.m., at Ochsner Foundation Hospital in New Orleans. He will be fondly remembered and deeply missed.
Parker is survived by his parents and stepmother, Sandra Haakstad Evans, and James P. “Jim” Evans IV and Adriane Kramer Evans; his sister, Amoret Frere Evans; his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. James P. Evans III; his aunt, Kelsey Evans Rivera and her children, Gustavo Antonio Rivera Jr. and Maimee Lee Lourdes Rivera; his aunt, Sherolyn Haakstad; and his uncle, Kevin Haakstad and his wife, Elaine Wong Haakstad.
