ELTON EDWARDS
Elton Edwards, 90, a native and a resident of Jeanerette, died Monday, October 6, 2014, at Post Acute Medical Center in Lafayette, at 10:40 a.m. He was a veteran of the United States Army in World War II.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m., on Friday, Oct. 10 at the Mount Calvary Baptist Church, 215 Nolan Duchane Drive in Jeanerette, La. 70544. Masonic rites will be conducted prior to funeral services, at 1 p.m., with the Rev. Jones officiating. Burial will follow in the Mount Calvary Church Cemetery in Jeanerette with military honors.
Elton leaves to cherish his memories his loving wife, Ruby Lee Edwards of Jeanerette; one son, Kerry James (Janice) Edwards of Abbeville; four daughters, Mrs. Charlie (Elaine Edwards) Handy of Baton Rouge, Mrs. Leroy (Marjorie (Nell) Harris of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Tarajee Christine Aleem of New Orleans and Jacquelyn Faye Davis of Jeanerette; a son-in-law; 18 grandchildren; 37 great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Mr. Edwards was preceded in death by his parents, one son, two daughters, two brothers and two sisters.
