HAROLD JAMES CLAY
Celebration of Life for Harold James Clay will be Saturday, August 22, 2015, at 1 p.m., at First Good Hope Baptist Church in Jeanerette, with Bishop Alvin Davis Sr. officiating.
Harold will be interred in Elijah Merritte Eternal Rest Cemetery in Jeanerette.
Visitation will be Saturday, August 22, at 9 a.m. until time of services at the church.
Harold was a resident of Memphis, TN. He passed on August 16, 2015 at Methodist Hospital in Memphis TN. He graduated from Boley Francis High School in Jeanerette. He accepted Christ at an early age, and was baptized by the late Gurley E. Batiste at First Jerusalem Baptist Church.
He leaves to cherish many wonderful memories, his companion of 40 years, Loretta Tharpe of Memphis TN; one daughter, Patrice Clay Bradley (Micah) of Dallas. TX; two sons, Harold Clay Jr. of Atlanta, GA; and Aubrey Clay (Tonya) of Atlanta GA; one godchild, Melinda Alexander Clavelle of Jeanerette; 10 grandchildren; siblings, Sylvinia W. Key (Percy) of Jeanerette; Margienell Jacobs (Hayden) of Houston, TX, Stanley Clay (Ethel) of Baldwin; Terry Clay (Lorraine) of Derrider; Polly Clay Marks (James) of Jeanerette; Beverly Clay of New Iberia; and Johnny Clay of New Iberia; one aunt, Hester Sparrow of Abbeville; and a host of nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Adam Nappy Clay and Georgia Sparrow Clay; and siblings, Gloria White Sampay, Robert White, Emily White Dalton and Geraldine Clay Sereal.
