HMS Tigers down Highland Baptist

NEW IBERIA _ John Guienze smacked a home run while Jacob Hebert earned the mound win as the Hanson Memorial Tigers beat Highland Baptist 10-1 in District 8-A action here Tuesday at Highland Baptist Field.
Hanson (7-4 in District 8-A) erupted for six runs in the top half of the fourth frame for a 7-0 advantage. The Tigers added three more runs in the top half of the sixth inning to build a 10-0 cushion. Highland Baptist avoided the shut out by scoring one run in the bottom half of the sixth inning before falling to the HMS Tigers by a final score of 10-1.
Hebert notched the mound victory for the Tigers after tossing a complete game, going seven innings, allowing one run on two hits with seven strikeouts and four walks.
Dylan Blair took the mound loss for Highland Baptist after working four innings, surrendering seven runs on five hits with four strikeouts and four walks. Mason Mendoza appeared in relief of Blair, pitching three innings, yielding three runs on two hits with one strikeout and one walk.
Guienze led the Tigers at the plate with a 2 for 4 effort, including a home run, 2 runs and three RBI. Luke Lancon was 1 for 5 with a double two RBI and a run. Hebert went 1 for 2 with two RBI and one run while Josh Sanchez was 2 for 4 with one run. Brandon Bonin went 1 for 3 with one RBI.
Hanson is currently 12-14 overall and 7-4 in district action.
