HORACE LEALON PAYNE

Funeral services for Mr. Horace Lealon Payne will be held Friday, September 26, 2014, at 11 a.m., at the First United Methodist Church of Franklin, with a gathering of family and friends beginning at 9 a.m. at the church. He will be laid to rest in the Franklin Cemetery. The Rev. Sue Pugh will officiate the services. Serving as pallbearers will be Chris Pierce, Trevor Pierce, Randy Pesson, Hardy Kent, Gerard Alfred and Jose’ Guillen.
Mr. Lealon was a native of Grapeland, Texas and a longtime resident of Franklin, who passed away at the age of 86 on Tuesday, September 23, 2014, at Franklin Foundation Hospital. His passions in life were his beloved dog, Chelsea, who went everywhere with him, and tending to his garden and sharing his vegetables with family and friends.
Survivors include his wife, Theresa “Sue” Payne; two sons, Tommy Payne and his wife, Brenda; and Sammy Payne and his wife, Amy; three stepdaughters, Jill Pesson and her husband, Randy; Jill Frederick Gilmore and Susan Frederick; one sister, Freda “Freddie” Parker; special friends and caregivers, Jennifer Naquin and Chris and Laura Pierce and their children, Kristen, Trevor, Ashley and Alaina; as well as numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews and other family members.
He was preceded in death by his previous wife, Margaret A. Payne; one son, Joseph Gerard Payne; one stepson, Mark A. Bordelon; his parents, Fred Payne and Layla Bridges Payne; and his siblings, J.D. Payne and Kathleen Worley.
