JEFFERY D. AUCOIN

Feb. 14, 1941 ~ July 18, 2015
Jeffery D. Aucoin, a native of Basile, LA, former longtime resident of Franklin, and a 29 year resident of Sorrel, passed away on Saturday, July 18, 2015, at his home with his family by his side.
Visitation will be held Monday, July 20, at Ibert’s Mortuary in Franklin, from 9 a.m. until 7 p.m., with the rosary being prayed at 6 p.m. Visitation will resume Tuesday, July 21, at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Basile, from 10 a.m. until Mass time.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Tuesday at St. Augustine Catholic Church at 11 a.m., with Father David Hebert as Celebrant for the Mass. Interment will follow in the St. Augustine Catholic Cemetery Mausoleum.
Mr. Jeff was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, who was lovingly called “Papa” by his grandbabies. He was a member of the Franklin Jaycees, an athlete, hunter and fisherman. He will be fondly remembered and deeply missed by all who knew him.
Survivors include his loving wife of 55 years, Jesselynn “Jessie” Fontenot Aucoin; five children, Christine Bourque, Gerard Aucoin, Stephanie Schexnaider and her husband John Schexnaider, Denette Trahan and her husband, Caroll Trahan Jr.; and Denise Johnson and her companion, Michael Benoit; nine grandchildren, Cheramie (Clinton) Hopper, Joey (Mallory) Bourque, Jeremy (Heather) Bourque, Joni Bourque, Megan Aucoin, Blane Jeffery (Megan) Aucoin, Quenton Johnson, Kaylee (Matthew) Campbell and Lee Louviere; four step-grandchildren, Caroll J. (Crystal) Trahan III, Jennifer (Ben) Segura, Jessica Trahan, Celeste (Justin) Drummond; 24 great grandchildren; two brothers, Robert (Carolyn) Aucoin and Rayford (Norma) Aucoin; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one grandson, Jason “Hank” Bourque; his parents, Mitchell D. Aucoin and Bonnie Courville Aucoin; one brother, Silton (Haidee) Aucoin; one sister, Bernella (Atlas) Fruge.
Serving as pallbearers will be his grandsons, Joey Bourque, Jeremy Bourque, Blane Jeffery Aucoin, Lee Louviere, Quenton Johnson and nephew, Todd Aucoin.
