JERRY A. GAUTHIER

Jerry A. Gauthier, 65, of Berwick, Louisiana, passed away Jan. 27, 2017. Jerry was born in Cleveland, Ohio, and was raised in Corpus Christi, Texas. He has resided in the Tri-City area for most of his adult life.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 30 years, Martha (Martie) Trosclair Gauthier and was the loving father of his two children; his daughter, Renee’ Gauthier Tardiff, married to Grady Tardiff, and his son, Jason Gauthier, married to Ashley Hofsommer Gauthier. He was adored by his five grandchildren, Brooklin, Isaac, Riley, and Isabelle Tardiff as well as Adelie Gauthier, who affectionately referred to him as her “JerBear.” He is also survived by his mother, Marcia Weber; his brother, Jay and his wife, Jessie Gauthier; his sister, Janice and her husband, Joe Beard; his sister, Joye and her husband, Mike Oldag, and his sister, April Weber. He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, and their families.
Jerry was preceded in death by his Dad, Donald “Pop” Weber; his father, Armand Arthur Gauthier; and his nephew, Jeremy Aucoin.
God and family were the most important things in Jerry’s life. He was gifted with Godly wisdom which he used daily in his personal and professional life. He counseled and mentored others until the very end. He was cool under pressure, compassionate, and had a stern resolve when necessary.
He loved hunting, fishing, travelling, and having adventures. The ocean was his playground, seldom did you find him without a good book in his hand, and he was a master at pulling the perfect prank. His gratitude to God and the genuine humility he displayed over his lifetime endeared him to all who knew him.
The accolades and awards he received are too many to count. He retired as a Vice President of Oceaneering International, Inc. Americas’ Region where he worked for 30 years. He also served as the past president of the Association of Diving Contractors International and the current president of the Morgan City Harbor & Terminal District.
Visitation will be held Thursday, Feb. 2, 2017, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Word of Life Family Church in Patterson, Louisiana. A Celebration of Life service will immediately follow.
