Jimmy, a native of Fordyce, Arkansas, a former longtime resident of Franklin and a resident of Youngsville for the past 11 years, was called home to his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Tuesday, September 30, 2014, while surrounded by family and love, just 14 days short of his 72nd birthday. He had a strong faith in his Lord and Savior and loved studying the bible. He was a dedicated and faithful employee of Cabot for 31 years, where he worked as a lab technician until retiring in 1996. His hobbies included fishing and working on home projects. However, his greatest joy in life was his family, especially his grandchildren, whom he loved and adored. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Patsy Burley; two sons, Keith Burley and his wife, Haley of Berwick; and Mark Burley and his wife, Jennifer, of Youngsville; six grandchildren, McKayla, Brielle, Cruz, Kylie, Kaia and Bentley Burley; two brothers, Acey Burley and his wife, Delilah, of Basile; and Mike Burley and his wife, Karen, of Denham Springs; and one stepsister, Ollie Broussard and her husband, Gary, of Erath.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Asa Morgan Burley and LaVerne McCann Burley; and his stepmother, Pet Burley.
The family would like to express their sincerest appreciation to St. Joseph Hospice for the loving and compassionate care given to Jimmy, as well as to Sharon Solet, his nurse, who was such a blessing to Jimmy and his family.
