John Floyd Rogers
John Floyd Rogers, beloved brother and uncle, died on Saturday, Feb. 22, 2014, in the local hospital, after a bout with cancer and pneumonia.
John “Push” Rogers was well known as a local teacher and bowling enthusiast. He enjoyed visiting relatives in Colorado and Texas. He traveled to Germany and Greece, as well as Australia, where he taught mathematics in a Melbourne school for two years.
A graduate of LSU, he pursued graduate work in that institution, earning a master’s degree. Several of his hobbies, besides bowling, were photography, reading and computer work. He was a local organizer of many local bowling events. He wrote the bowling history of Morgan City after he had been named a state bowling champion.
John is survived by three brothers, Selwyn P. Rogers Jr., Howard G. Rogers Sr. and Rodney A. Rogers; and numerous nephews and nieces. All of his friends and relatives will miss him greatly.
