AMARILLO, Texas — Memorial services for John H. Moore Jr., 53, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 13, 2014, in the Cox Funeral Home Benton Chapel with Charlie Cox officiating. He died Dec. 4, 2014.
John was born July 6, 1961, in Morgan City, to Rosalie and John Moore Sr. He served his country with the Navy aboard the USS Prairie 8015 from 1982-1985. During his naval time, he participated in the Shellback Initiation, crossing the equator in 1984. He was employed with Simplex-Grinnell, and also licensed by the State of Texas, State Fire Marshal’s Office. He was an avid reader, a devoted New Orleans Saints fan, and loved singing karaoke as a hobby.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his twin sister, Johnette Moore; and by his canine companions, “Demi Moore” and “Gumbeaux.”
He is survived by his wife, Reaun, of Amarillo, Texas; a daughter, Kimberly Mack, of Amarillo, Texas; his siblings, Josephine Martin, of Thibodaux, Corliss Marie Moore, of Morgan City, Letitia Fabyan, of Dallas, Ricky Moore, of Morgan City, and Ashley “Dean” Moore, of Dallas. Also surviving John is his mother-in-law, Ora Bradley, of Amarillo, Texas; and a host of nieces and nephews, as well as his faithful companions, “Lola,” “Diggy” and “Killa.”
