JOHN ROBERT WHITE

Retired U.S. Army Sgt. John Robert White, a native of Morgan City, died Monday, April 13, 2015, at Charlie Norwood VA Medical Center in Augusta, Georgia. He was a 20-year retired veteran of the United States Army and served honorably in the Vietnam campaign, winning the Purple Heart.
He is survived by his wife, Alice E. White; four sons, Anthony Davis of Brooklyn, New York, Warren Mayo and Charles Mayo, both of Augusta, Georgia, and Frederick Shepard of South Carolina; five daughters, Wendy Harbour of Brooklyn, New York, Alice Cotton of Staten Island, New York, Shondell Baker of Beech Island, South Carolina, and Candice Mayo and Liza Tanksley, both of Augusta, Georgia; two sisters, Patsy Powell and Debbie Favors, both of Morgan City; one uncle; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
The Rev. Dr. James A. Hogan officiated the services at New Zion Hill Baptist Church in Augusta. Interment followed at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
