Kirt Douglas Matthews, 59, a resident of New Iberia and native of Franklin, passed away Wednesday, August 24, 2016, at 6 p.m., at AMG Specialty Hospital in Lafayette following a short illness
Visitations will be observed Saturday, Sept. 3, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., at St. Joseph Baptist Church in Franklin.
Burial rites will be read Saturday, at 11 a.m., at the church, with the Rev. Ronald C. Young officiating. Interment will follow in the St. Joseph Baptist Church Cemetery.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Lori (Roosevelt Jr.) Overton of Houston, TX and Ms. Kristi Matthews of Atlanta, GA; one brother, Mr. Dewitt Matthews of New Iberia; one sister, Ms. Delilah Matthews of New Iberia; and three grandchildren, Lauren Johnson, Mycha Davis and Zion Overton, all of Houston, TX.
Mr. Matthews was preceded in death by his wife, mother, grandparents, brothers and sisters.
The Otis Mortuary of Franklin is in charge of preparations.
