Lady Tigers improve to 14-2 with win over Ascension

Hanson Memorial’s Lady Tigers improved to 14-2 and 2-1 on the season with a thrilling 58-19 District 7-1A victory over the Ascension Episcopal School Lady Gators Tuesday at the Billy Gene Talbot Gymnasium.
The Hanson Memorial Lady Tigers dominated from the opening tip, posting a 22-0 lead. Hanson secured a one-sided 36-7 advantage at intermission. In the third quarter, Hanson enjoyed an 18-3 flurry for an insurmountable 54-10 cushion before icing away the 58-19 triumph.
Carlie Pellerin and Allyssa Young led the Lady Tigers with 17 and 14 points respectively. Pellerin poured in 17 points one trey and seven deuces along with two rebounds, five assists and two steals.
Young bagged here 14 points on one trey, five two-pointers and 1 of 2 freebeies along with two rebounds, three assists and 3 steals.
Rounding out the scoring for the Hanson Memorial Lady Tigers were: Casey Fitzgerald, 9 points, 3 rebounds; Baylee Young, 4 points, 8 rebounds, 2 blocks; Noel Baker, 4 points, 8 rebounds, 1 assist; Lunden Verdin, 3 points; Sarah Daniel, 3 points; Abby Dugas, 2 points and Kaylee Broussard, 2 points.
Hanson connected on 25 of 56 field goals, including 20 2’s and 5 3’s. The Lady Tigers also collected 42 rebounds with 12 offensive and 30 defensive boards along with three blocks, seven steals and seven deflections.
The Hanson Lady Tigers will play host to the Vermilion Catholic Lady Eagles on Friday in District 7-1A action at 6:30 p.m. at the Billy Gene Talbot Gymnasium.
