LARRY GENE MENDOZA

Larry Gene Mendoza, a native of Bayou Chene and a longtime resident of Franklin, passed away at 10:36 a.m., on Friday, August 1, 2014, just 13 days short of his 70th birthday, at Franklin Foundation Hospital, following a lengthy battle with cancer. A memorial service will be held by the family at a later date.
Larry was a man who loved life. He was a hard worker, spending the majority of his working years as a boat captain, which fueled his love for life on the water. He was also an active person away from work, enjoying fishing and crawfishing with his son, Chad, working in his shop on all kinds of carpentry projects, and spending time with his family. He will be deeply missed.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Ruby Billiot Mendoza; two sons, Joe Mendoza and his wife, Christine; and Chad Mendoza and his wife, Amanda; three grandchildren, Jasmine Mendoza, Alex Mendoza and Jaunie’ Mendoza; five siblings, Raymond Mendoza Jr., Marshall Mendoza, Cary Mendoza, Jeanette Forester and Rita Binion; two brothers-in-law, Larry and Lee Billiot; three sisters-in-law, Delores Billiot, Dale Gauthier and Sheila Baudoin; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond Matthew Mendoza Sr. and Ruby Allen Mendoza; one brother, Milton Mendoza; one sister, Janice LeBlanc; parents-in-law, Horace Billiot Sr. and Eula Mae Sauce Billiot; and one brother-in-law, Horace Billiot Jr.
