LAURA DIANE BUTCHER CROOKS

September 10, 1939-July 25, 2015
Laura Diane Butcher Crooks, 75, a resident of Amelia, passed from this world on Saturday, July 25, 2015, at Thibodaux Regional Medical Center.
Diane was born on Sept. 10, 1939, in Jonesville, Louisiana, the daughter of Oscar H. and Fannie L. Estes Butcher. In 1957 she was united in marriage to William Crooks and this year they celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary.
Her small town upbringing showed through in every part of her life — from the way she talked to the way she cooked. She was sure to include someone from her family in her life every day; coaching grandkids’ baseball, shopping with her kids, or just taking off with her husband to travel. Diane was the centerpiece to her family. She was a Jehovah’s Witness and loved to talk about the bible.
She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her husband of 58 years, William Crooks of Amelia; three children, Steven Paul Crooks, Gerald W. Crooks, and Wanona C. Boykin and husband Shannon, all of Amelia; four grandchildren, Denny Humphrey, Jessica Lasseigne, Tara Crooks and Stacie Humphrey; four great-grandchildren, William, Mia, Gwen and A.J.; one brother, Jim Butcher; and one sister, Mary West.
Diane was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar H. Butcher and Fannie Lorene Estes Butcher; one sister, Irma Huth; and one brother, Roger Butcher.
A visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Wednesday, July 29, 2015, at Twin City Funeral Home with the funeral service being held at 1 p.m. A private family burial will be held in the Morgan City Cemetery.
