Lee Fontenot Sr.

Lee Fontenot Sr., a native of Chataignier and a resident of Bayou Vista, passed away, Sunday, Dec. 21, 2014, at the age of 74.
Lee’s memory will continue to be cherished by his loving wife of 53 years, Carolyn Nelson Fontenot; four daughters, Kimla F. Smith and her husband, Russell, Darla F. Mayon and her partner, Michael Credeur, Shawna Fontenot Kidder and her husband, Walter, and Dawn Sullivan and her husband, John; one son, Eric Fontenot; one brother, Maurice Fontenot Jr.; three sisters, Joyce Saucier, Bernadine Fontenot and Bertha Verrett; 15 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Maurice Fontenot Sr.; his mother, Olivia Reed Fontenot; his son, Lee Fontenot Jr.; and three brothers, Leo Fontenot, Rodney Fontenot and Urell Fontenot.
Lee Fontenot, better known as T-Lee or Cowboy, was the heart of his family. Kindhearted but stern, he was the glue that held them together. He had a deep passion for horses, a passion that he passed down to his youngest daughter who loved to barrel race. He was a true cowboy who enjoyed watching western television shows and eating turtle sauce piquant.
Visitation for Lee will be held today, Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2014, from 6 to 9 p.m. and will continue Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2014, from 9 a.m. until time of services at 11 a.m. at Hargrave Funeral Home. Lee will be laid to rest in the Morgan City Cemetery following funeral services.
