Funeral services for Lewis Ray Carline, 89, will be celebrated on Thursday, April 23, 2015, at 11 a.m., at Calvary Bible Church in Centerville. He will be laid to rest in the Presbyterian Cemetery in Centerville. The Rev. Clyde Crappell will officiate the services.
A gathering of family and friends will be held Wednesday at Calvary Bible Church from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m., and again Thursday from 9 a.m. until time of service.
Mr. Ray was a native of Bayou Chene and a 65 year resident of Centerville, who passed away Sunday, April 19, 2015, at 4:15 p.m., at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette.
An avid bass and sac-a-lait fisherman, Mr. Ray also enjoyed small game and bird hunting and was a dog lover. One of his favorite pastimes was sharing stories about his early years in Bayou Chene, which he often referred to as his “Paradise.” But above all, his true love in life was his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren, which he loved to rock as babies. He will be deeply missed by his family and fondly remembered by all who knew him.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Marietta Gautreaux Carline; nine children, William Ray Carline and his wife Lynne; Cary Carline, Timothy Luke Carline and his wife, Tina; Kathleen Rhodes and her husband, Rodney; Bonnie Williams and her husband, John; Pamela Brice and her husband, Barry; Alice Rauch and her husband, Mark; Linda Richard and her husband, Mike; and Patrice Carline; 18 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; one great great grandson; his sister, Patricia C. Smith; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his son, Thomas Wayne “Bigalo” Carline; his parents, John Arnold Carline and Elvina Ashley Carline; his brother, Millard Carline and three sisters, Armead Larson, Elvira Verret and Shirley Carline.
Serving as pallbearers will be Mark Rauch, Mike Richard, Barry Brice, Chad Carline, Jesse R. Carline and Dean Ashley.
