MARJORIE HOTARD BLANCHARD

June 7, 1922 - November 18, 2016
Funeral services will be held Monday, November 21, 2016, at the Church of the Assumption in Franklin during a 1:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial for Marjorie Hotard Blanchard, a native of Donaldsonville and longtime resident of Franklin who passed away at the age of 94 on Friday, November 18, 2016, at Franklin Foundation Hospital. Following the Mass she will be laid to rest next to her late husband in Perpetual Park Cemetery. Father Lloyd Benoit will be the Celebrant for the Mass and conduct the services. Musical selections for the Mass will be provided by pianist and vocalist Stephanie Hoffpauir and will include Amazing Grace, Shepherd Me O God, Be Not Afraid, On Eagle’s Wings, and Go In Peace. Serving as pallbearers will be her nine grandchildren.
A gathering of family and friends will be held Monday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until time of service, with the Holy Rosary being prayed at 11:00 a.m.
Marjorie’s passion in life was cooking. She absolutely loved feeding everybody, especially her family. Nothing pleased her more than having family and friends around her table enjoying a good meal. She also loved visiting with her friends over coffee as well as over the telephone and monthly casino trips with her classmates. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Those she leaves to cherish her memory include her three children, Nancy B. Barras and her husband Aubrey, Linda B. Moore and her husband Jesse, and Jeffery M. Blanchard and his wife Charlene; nine grandchildren, Matthew Joseph Barras, Luke Charles Barras, Jeremy Alexander Moore, Taylor John Moore, Morgan William Jennings Moore, Joey Ray Blanchard, Toby John Blanchard, Melody B. Coleman, and Sarah Elizabeth Blanchard; as well as 11 great grandchildren, a brother-in-law, Donald Blanchard, and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph Frank “J.F.” Blanchard Jr.; one son, Raymond Ernest Blanchard; her parents, Ernest Raymond Hotard and Aimee’ Maurin Hotard; and three sisters, her identical twin Mildred H. Lambert, Lillian H. Clement, and Aimee’ Rita H. Grillet.
