MARY CHARPENTIER JONES

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 6, 2014, at a 2 p.m. Mass of Christian burial at the Church of the Assumption in Franklin for Mary Charpentier Jones, 83, a native and lifelong resident of Franklin who passed away on Saturday, Nov. 1, at Franklin Foundation Hospital following a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s. She will be laid to rest in the Franklin Cemetery. Father Lloyd Benoit will be the celebrant of the mass and will conduct the services.
A gathering of family and friends will be held Wednesday at Ibert’s Mortuary, from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m., with the rosary being prayed at 7 p.m. Visiting hours will resume Thursday at Ibert’s at 11 a.m., until time of dismissal prayers at 1:30 p.m.
Serving as pallbearers will be three of her sons, Sam, Michael and David Jones, her two grandsons, Joshua and Jonathan Jones, and her godchild Sterling “Buster” Charpentier III. Honorable pallbearers will be Monty Jones, Asby Charpentier, Mark “Sonny” Charpentier, George Stephens Jr. and Charles Ewing.
Survivors include four sons, former Mayor of Franklin and current State Rep. Sam Jones and his wife, Toni, of Franklin; Monty Jones of Las Cruces, NM; Michael Jones and his wife, Wendy, of Franklin; and David J. Jones and his fiancée, Tracy, of Franklin; four grandchildren, Joshua Jones of Franklin, Kristin Broussard of Groves TX, Jonathan Jones and his wife, Kristan, of Charenton; and Allison Jones of Franklin; two great grandchildren, Hayden Burrow of Groves, TX; and Cooper Jones of Charenton; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Sterling P. Charpentier Sr. and Rosalie Ferrera Charpentier; two sisters, Mary Charpentier (infant) and Vivian C. Stephens; and two brothers, Sterling P. Charpentier Jr. and Wilton “Minoo” Charpentier.
