Mattie Louise Johnson, 86, of Morgan City, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, June 18, 2014, in Palestine, Texas.
Mattie was born March 23, 1928, in Wichita Falls, Texas. She lived a Godly and fulfilled life. She graduated from Christ For the Nations Institute in Dallas and from Latter Rein Ministries in Illinois, where she studied children’s ministry. Following her education, Mattie spent time doing missions in Kenya, Africa. She served several years on the Women’s Aglow Board and was also a co-founder for Cornerstone Ministries in Morgan City.
Mattie is survived by her children, David Johnson, and Anita Johnson Fromenthal and her husband, Tommy; eight grandchildren, Michael Fromenthal, Rachel Fromenthal, Rebecca Fromenthal, Stephen Fromenthal, John Fromenthal and his wife, Miriam, Kevin Fromenthal, Matthew Johnson and his wife, Valerie, and Laura Rackley and her husband, Caleb; as well as her four great-grandchildren.
She is reunited with her husband, Urban Earl Johnson; and two children, Cheryl and Johnny Johnson.
Visitation for Mattie will be held Saturday, June 21, 2014, 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Hargrave Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at Hargrave Funeral Home following the visitation. Mattie will be laid to rest in the Patterson Protestant Cemetery.
