MELBA STEPHENS KULLERD
March 1, 1941 - March 16, 2016
Melba Stephens Kullerd, 75, a resident of Bayou Vista, went to heaven Wednesday, March 16, 2016, at AMG Specialty Hospital in Houma.
Melba was born on March 1, 1941, in Port Arthur, Texas, the daughter of Midford and Mavis Chance Stephens.
Melba enjoyed playing the piano for her church and taught local children piano for years. She started playing the piano at age 5. Melba loved children and she loved to teach them. She was a Christian schoolteacher, teaching many children in the area. She was a pastor’s wife, was a wonderful mother to her three children, and a wonderful grandmother to her three grandchildren.
She will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by her husband, Ted B. Kullerd of Bayou Vista; three daughters, Cheryl R. Haynes and husband, Timothy, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, Dana K. White and husband, Gregory, of La Habra, California, and Erin R. Kullerd and fiancé, Jacob Long, of Knoxville, Tennessee; and three grandchildren, Morgan Haynes, Caroline Haynes and Charlotte Grace White.
Melba was preceded in death by her parents, Midford Emmett Stephens and Mavis Chance Stephens.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 19, 2016, at Twin City Funeral Home. A visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. Friday, March 18, 2016, at Twin City Funeral Home with the visitation resuming at 8 a.m. until the time of the services Saturday at the funeral home. Graveside services will be held at 4 p.m. in the Castor Baptist Church Cemetery, 2057 Slagle Rd. in Leesville, LA 71446.
