NEWTON P. AUCOIN

Newton P. Aucoin, a resident of Berwick, passed away Thursday, May 21, 2015, at Teche Regional Medical Center.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Barbara Price Aucoin; his brother, Bobbie P. Aucoin and wife, Diana; his sister, Ruth A Landry; brother-in-law, Richard Price and wife, Frances D. Price; sister-in-law, Sally Price Herman and husband, Gary; nephews, Stuart Aucoin and wife, Kim, Rushe Aucoin and wife, Mary, Shawn Price and wife, Tonya, Barry Price and wife, Mary, and Beau Herman and wife, Mercer; nieces, Vicky Gregory, Tonette Gibson, Jennifer Orlando and husband, Peter, Jan King and husband, Walter, Michelle Bellavia and husband, Kelly, and Heather Breaux and husband, Alan.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Uhry and Mae Hebert Aucoin; his niece, Julie LeJeune; and his sister-in-law, Carmen DeRoche.
Newton retired from Shell Oil Co. He was an avid hunter and sports fisherman and for 15 years he custom wrapped fresh and salt water rods and repaired reels.
Three joys of his life were working with the Civil Air Patrol in search and rescue, Civil Defense, and becoming an Extra Class Amateur Radio Operator who coordinated the communication activities between the radio operators and the Civil Defense. He enjoyed many years of working with and having a rewarding friendship with Dr. Mel Bourgeois.
Services were held today, Monday, May 25, 2015, at Hargrave Funeral Home at 11 a.m. Officiating were pastors John Locascio and Gary Herman.
The family would like to express deep heartfelt thanks to Dr. Lester L. Ducote Jr. of Lafayette, who made sure “the energizer bunny’s heart kept on ticking” for the last 40 years. Thanks, Doc.
