ORELIA B. SMITH
Mrs. Orelia B. Smith, 79, a resident of Franklin and native of the Oaklawn Community, died Wednesday, July 23, 2014, at 2:40 a.m., at Franklin Foundation Hospital following a short illness.
She is survived by five sons, Stafford G. Boatman and Kenneth Frank Smith, both of Franklin, Barry Smith of Lafayette, Brian K. Smith of Sorrell and Charles R. Smith of Stone Mountain, Georgia; four daughters, Mrs. Debra B. McFarlane, Miss Shelia L. Smith, Miss Chandra M. Smith and Miss Chauntley M. McFarlane, all of Franklin; two brothers, Eugene “Johnny” Freeman of Franklin and Eddie Freeman of New Iberia; seven sisters, Mrs. Victoria “Momma Vick” Vining, Ms. Melvin Spain, Minister Catherine Morris, Mrs. Leotha Butler, Mrs. Jean Madison, Minister Ruby Griffin and Mrs. Marjorie Gibson, all of Franklin; 26 grandchildren; and 37 great grandchildren.
Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two daughters, two sons, five brothers, one sister and one grandchild.
Visitations will be observed Saturday, Aug. 2, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., at Otis Mortuary Chapel in Franklin.
Burial rites will be read Saturday, at 1 p.m., at the mortuary, with the Rev. James F. Otis officiating. Interment will follow in the Franklin Cemetery.
The Otis Mortuary of Franklin is in charge of preparations.
