OWEN O'NEILL STANSBURY SR.

February 5, 1925-February 8, 2016
Owen O’Neill Stansbury Sr., the son of Charles William and Rita Breaux Stansbury of Morgan City, Louisiana, passed away Monday, Feb. 8, 2016.
Owen graduated from Morgan City High School in 1944. Then in May 1944 he left for basic training in the U.S. Army. He was in the 757 Tank Battalion in Italy. He retired from the U.S. Army in December 1946.
When Owen returned home, he drove a taxi and did carpenter work with his brothers. He eventually got a job at Cabot Corporation and retired from there in 1986.
In April of 1946, Owen married the love of his life, Gloria Rock, of Berwick. They were blessed with a set of twins, Pamela and Patricia, and one son, Owen Jr.
Owen was preceded in death by his parents; and six siblings, William, Merlin, Huey, Rita, Ella Ruth and Becky.
He is survived by his siblings, Dickie Stansbury, Jack Stansbury, Ann Williams, Wanzie Cousin, Caroline Darcie and his lovely wife Gloria; and his children, Pamela and Guy Thomas Rankin Jr., Patricia and John Savoy, and Owen Stansbury Jr.; as well as three more generations.
Owen is also survived by his grandchildren, Tammy Rankin and John Billiot, Jamie and Glenn Lancon, Sherrie and Kennon Evett, Eric and Eileen Savoy, Melissa and Andy Carper, Mark and Theresa Savoy, and Kevin and Jill Rankin.
He is also survived by his great-grandchildren, Kristina Ware and Jeremy Brewster, Kimberly and Blake McCoy, Glenn A. Lancon, Christian Carper, Ian Carper, Jackie Carper, George Lancon, Seth Evett, Kaleb Evett, Emerson Rankin, Joshua Savoy, Michael Savoy, Daniel Savoy and Benjamin Savoy; and his great-great-grandchildren, Jorden Brewster, Tucker Brewster, Easton McCoy and Avery McCoy.

Services will be held at Hargrave Funeral Home Friday, Feb. 12, 2016, from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m., then to the Morgan City graveyard with Honor Guard.

Death is really a wonderful thing; Re-emerging into the non-physical is more glorious than emerging into the physical.
And so there is nothing about death that is unpleasant, but there are many of you who are not ready to release from the physical because you have so much that you are intending to do here. (Abraham Hicks)
