Paula Finkelstein Nelkin

August 26, 1932 — November 4, 2013
Paula Finkelstein Nelkin, a lifelong resident of Morgan City, passed away Monday, Nov. 4, 2013, at Maison Jardin in Morgan City at the age of 81.     
Paula was a loving and devoted mother and Bubbie, (grandmother). She was a passionate animal owner and supporter of animal rights and protection. Paula was known for her gentle nature, kindness, generous spirit, intelligence, sense of humor and being an exceptional cook.
Paula was a member of the Jewish congregation Shaare Zedek, a charter member of the Krewe of Galatea, a Lakewood Hospital Auxiliary volunteer, and a Boy and Girl Scout leader.
Paula leaves to cherish her memory, her son, Kenny Nelkin and his wife, Becky; and her grandchildren, Ellie and Max.
She was preceded in death by her son, Ronnie Nelkin; her daughter, Molly Nelkin; her father, Louis Finkelstein; her mother, Fannie Katz Finkelstein; and two sisters, Shirley Finkelstein Saltz, and Ida Finkelstein.
Graveside services for Paula will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 7, 2013, at the Morgan City Cemetery with Rabbi Barry Weinstein officiating.
In lieu of flowers the Nelkin family requests that donations be made in Paula’s name to ASPCA or any other animal protection organization.
