RITA BODIN DARDEN

Funeral services celebrating the life of Rita Bodin Darden will be held Tuesday, July 7, 2015, at Immaculate Conception Church in Charenton during a 12 p.m. Memorial Mass of Christian burial. Inurnment will follow in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery Mausoleum. Father Cedric Sonnier will be the Celebrant for the Mass and conduct the services.
A gathering of family and friends will be held Tuesday at the church from 9 a.m. until time of Mass, with the rosary being prayed at 11 a.m.
Mrs. Rita was born in Ashton, LA on December 29, 1930 to the late Dennis Bodin and the late Laurence Hebert Bodin. She passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Saturday, July 4, 2015, at her home in Charenton.
A loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, and grandmother, Mrs. Rita’s greatest joy in life was her family. She was a devout Catholic and a longtime faithful member of Immaculate Conception Church in Charenton. In her early years, she enjoyed pottery as well as camping. Many, though, will remember her as owner of Four Seasons Furniture and Appliance Store in Franklin, which she was very active in until her health would no longer allow. She will be fondly remembered and deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Daniel Darden; one daughter, Susan Darden Deslatte and her husband, Royce; three sons, Danny Darden and his wife, Jennifer; Anthony Darden and his wife, Nola; and Patrick Darden; 13 grandchildren, Jessica Deslatte, Jarrod Deslatte and his wife, Laurie; Russel Aucoin III, Emily Darden, Amy Broussard and her husband, Marcus; Toni Darden, Jake Darden and his wife, Claudia; Jamie Ancona and her husband, Tony; Ben Darden, Grant Darden, Gabriella Darden, McKaila Darden and Marlena Darden; 10 great grandchildren; two brothers, Francis Bodin and Dennis Bodin; two sisters, Theresa Boudreaux and Grace Haydel; two daughters-in-law, Belinda C. Darden and Monique M. Darden; one brother-in-law, John Darden, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Glenn Edward Darden; four brothers, Jules, Roland, Theophile and Ambrose Bodin; and two sisters, Irene Breaux and Hazel Rodriguez Dumesnil.
