ROY JOSEPH WALKER SR.

April 30, 1941- February 28, 2017
Roy Joseph Walker Sr., 75, a resident of Gonzales, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2017, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Gonzales.
Roy was born April 30, 1941, in Morgan City, the son of Joe Joseph Walker and Helen Stansbury Walker.
Roy was a great family man and wonderful provider for his family. His work ethic was second to none. He instilled a strong sense of family values to his children and grandchildren. He always lent a helping hand to anyone in need. In his spare time, he loved telling stories, wood-working and going fishing. His sense of humor will be missed. He was a wonderful man.
He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife of 53 years, Dorothy Hernandez Walker of Gonzales; two children, Roy Joseph Walker Jr. of League City, Texas and Celine Velvet Runyon and husband Brian of French Settlement; five grandchildren, Desiree Nicole Aucoin, Alexandra Noel Runyon, Trint Joseph Aucoin, Faith Marie Broussard and Roy Joseph Walker III; three great-grandchildren, Dayson Lee Aucoin, Lucy Rayne Alimia and Arabella Celine Gerald; and one sister, Barbara Walker Boudreaux of Stephensville.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents, Joe Joseph Walker and Helen Stansbury Walker.
A visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Friday, March 3, 2017, at Twin City Funeral Home with the visitation resuming on Saturday, March 4, 2017, from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 4, 2017, at Twin City Funeral Home with Rev. Steven Porter officiating. Following the services, Roy will be laid to rest in the Morgan City Cemetery.
