SAMUEL DAVID STARK

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 4, 2014, at a 1 p.m. service in Martin & Castille’s LaFleur de Lis Chapel in Lafayette, for Samuel David Stark, 87, who died on Thursday, October 30, 2014, at his residence in Youngsville. Interment will be in the Beau Pre Memorial Park Cemetery in Jeanerette. The Rev. Chris Fuselier, pastor of First Baptist Church in Youngsville, will conduct the funeral services.
Survivors include his daughter, Donna Duck; his son, Michael Stark and his wife, Kim; sister, Mary Ruth Bird; nine grandchildren; and 25 great grandchildren.
Mr. Stark was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Johnnie Faye Cornes Stark; his parents, Mason Holly Stark and Flavia Neely Stark; his son, Samuel Stephen Stark; four brothers, Mance, Paul, Leonard and Lawrence Stark; and two sisters, Naomi Kron and Elizabeth Faust.
A native of Merryville, Louisiana, residing in Franklin, Arkansas, Alaska, Shreveport and lastly, Youngsville, Samuel had retired after a long and successful career in the oilfield working with ARCO. He proudly served our country in the United States Navy during WWII. He had many hobbies, and was very skilled in woodworking, a bountiful gardener, and his mechanical skills afforded him to repair just about anything he put his hands on. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
Pallbearers will be Samuel Duck, David Stark, Chuck Grose, Ben Jones, Mark Snell and Jason Stone. Honorary pallbearers will be Collin Snell and Evan Duck.
The family requests that visitation be observed in Martin & Castille’s SOUTHSIDE location on Tuesday, from 10 a.m. until time of service.
