A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 17, 2013, at the Church of the Assumption in Franklin for Mr. Stephen Leonard Robicheaux, 79, a native of Franklin and a 19-year resident of Thibodaux, who passed away at 10:27 a.m. Monday, Oct. 14, 2013, at Audubon Health and Rehab in Thibodaux. 
Serving as pallbearers will be Zachary and Nicholas Romero, Robert Robicheaux Sr., Benjamin Lee Robicheaux, Robert Robicheaux Jr. and Mack Alcina Jr. He will be laid to rest in the Franklin Cemetery. The Rev. Keenan Brown will officiate the services.
Mr. Stephen was a graduate of Franklin Senior High School, received his Bachelor’s Degree from SLI (UL), and his Master’s Degree, Plus 30, and Specialist Degree from Nicholls. He taught for 41 years as a band director at various schools in south Louisiana and in Florida, 33 of which were spent in St. Mary Parish, where he retired in 1992. His passions in life were music, visiting with family and friends, fishing, spending time on the water, and painting and drawing nature scenes. He was also a volunteer at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church in Chackbay.
Survivors include three children, Stephanie Frances Robicheaux of Lafayette, Benjamin Joseph Robicheaux and his fiancée, Emilsa Guillot, of Seffner, Fla., and Christina Renee Ranes and her husband, Chris, of Virginia Beach, Va.; five siblings, Loretta Meaux of Abbeville, Ryan Robicheaux Sr. of Brusly, Robert Robicheaux Sr. and his wife, Berinda, of Franklin, Guy Robicheaux of Houma, and Michael Robicheaux and his wife, Carol Jean, of Lafayette; his dear friend, Nancy Boudreaux of Thibodaux; his former wife, Frances Mahady of Lafayette; one brother-in-law, Dale Carriere of Carencro; eight grandchildren, Leilani Hardee of Morgan City, Zachary and Nicholas Romero of Lafayette, Tulsa McGuire of Tulsa, Okla., Sheena Gulliver of Dallas, and Ashley, Elizabeth and Victoria Robicheaux, all of Thibodaux; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two infant children, David L. Robicheaux and Scotty J. Robicheaux; his parents, Percy and Iva Charpentier Robicheaux; four siblings, Riley Robicheaux, Marshall Robicheaux Sr., Audrey Carriere, and Delores Ann Robicheaux; and one sister-in-law, Ruby Robicheaux.
A gathering of family and friends will be held Thursday, Oct. 17, at Ibert’s Mortuary in Franklin from 11 a.m. until time of dismissal at 1:30 p.m., followed by the funeral Mass at 2 p.m. at the church.
The family suggests that memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Stephen’s name to Our Lady of Prompt Succor Church, 529 Hwy 20, Thibodaux, LA 70301.
