Funeral services will be held Monday, November 10, 2014, at a 12 noon Mass of Christian Burial at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Baldwin for Mr. Steve L. Landry, 82, a native and lifelong resident of Jeanerette, who passed away Wednesday, November 5, 2014, at 7:28 a.m., at Iberia Medical Center in New Iberia. He will be laid to rest in the St. John the Evangelist Cemetery Mausoleum in Jeanerette. Fr. Gregory Cormier will be celebrant of the Mass and will conduct the services.
A gathering of family and friends will be held Monday at the church from 10 a.m. until time of Mass, with the rosary being prayed at 11 a.m.
Survivors include his loving wife of 63 years, Barbara Breaux Landry; eight children, Dale Landry and his wife, Amanda, of Franklin; Trudy Williams and her husband, Michael, of Jeanerette; Dr. Kim Landry and his wife, Suzanne, of Gulf Breeze, FL; Neal Landry and his wife, Andrea, of Jeanerette; Marla Concienne and her husband, Ray, of Jeanerette; Robby Landry and his wife, Sharon, of Jeanerette; Mitzi Carruthers and her husband, Bruce, of Zimbabwe, Africa; and Ryan Landry of Houston, TX; 22 grandchildren; and 18 great grandchildren.
Mr. Landry was preceded in death by his parents, George and Felicienne Louviere Landry; one grandson, Dougall James Carruthers; one brother, E.G. Landry; and three sisters, Lillian Hebert, Luna Granger and Irene Freyou.
Serving as pallbearers will be grandsons, Seth Williams, Joshua Williams, Grant Landry, Jacob Landry, Colby Landry and Matthew Landry. Honorary pallbearers will be sons-in-law, Michael Williams, Ray Concienne and Bruce Carruthers and grandsons, Jared Landry, Ben Williams, Andrew Williams, Evan Landry, Tyler Landry, Nicholas Landry and Campbell Carruthers.
