SYLVIA MARIE BURTON LANDRY

Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 13, 2015, at 2 p.m., at Ibert’s Mortuary in Franklin for Sylvia Marie Burton Landry, who passed away at the age of 80 on Tuesday, August 11, 2015, in Franklin. She will be laid to rest in the Franklin Cemetery. Father Lloyd Benoit of the Church of the Assumption will conduct the services.
A gathering of family and friends will be held Thursday at Ibert’s from 10 a.m. until time of service. Serving as pallbearers will be Burton Landry, Barry Landry, Toby Landry, Blake Johnson, Matthew Landry, BJ Johnson, Peyton Landry and Ryan Luck.
Sylvia was born in Oaklawn on September 11, 1934 to the late Harold Thomas Burton Sr. and the late Aline Rodriguez Burton, and was a lifelong resident of Franklin. In her earlier years, along with her husband, R.L., she was the owner and operator of St. Mary Rexall Pharmacy in Franklin. Later in life, she worked for Himel’s Motor Supply as a secretary, and reigned as Queen of the Krewe of Agmarol in 1990. Sylvia was also an expert seamstress and avid gardener. But above all, she loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandson. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include her children, Burton Rene Landry and his wife, Lucy, of Baton Rouge; Barry Anthony Landry and his partner, Daniel Ruiz, of Austin, TX; Toby Gerard Landry and his wife, Kathy, of Franklin; and Pamela Anne Landry Johnson and her husband, Blake, of Franklin; eight grandchildren, Matthew Landry and his partner, Stephanie Allenson of Houston, TX; Alison Landry and her husband, Ryan Luck, of Washington, DC; Martha Landry of Baton Rouge; Peyton Landry of Lafayette; Ashton Landry of Franklin; Blake “BJ” Johnson II and his partner, Alexis Rineholt of Lafayette; Maggie Johnson of Franklin; and Noel Johnson of Franklin; one great grandson, Michael Rene Luck of Washington, DC; and her beloved pet dog, DueDue.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, R.L. Landry, RPh; and her brother, Harold Thomas “Tommy” Burton Jr.
The family would like to express their deepest appreciation to her loving caregivers, Sophie Willis, LaMonique, and Fantasia, Sarah Gilbeaux, Chiquitta Lumpkin, Trinity Coleman, Ginger Jones and Josie Boatman, as well as to Dr. James B. Falterman Jr. and staff; Dr. Clyde R. Roy II and staff; Dr. C.T. Stirling and Lisa Hebert; and Joey Bergeron, RPh., and staff.
