Tommy Murr

Funeral services for Tommy Murr, 74, of DeRidder, will be held at noon Monday, Jan. 19, 2015, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church of DeRidder, with the Rev. Jude Brunnert officiating. Mr. Murr passed from this life Sunday, Jan. 11, 2015, in Lake Charles.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 18, with a rosary being recited at 7 p.m. and Monday, 9 to 11 a.m. at Labby Memorial Funeral Home of DeRidder.
Mr. Murr was born Friday, April 12, 1940, to Leonard and Bertha Kern Murr in DeRidder. He lived in Morgan City for 26 years before moving back to DeRidder. He was a retired, self-employed electrician. Tommy was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Morgan City and St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in DeRidder. He was active with St. Vincent de Paul thrift store in Dry Creek.
He is survived by five daughters, Joy Guichet, of Port Barre, Mary Annette Murr, of Kinder, Karen Vining and husband, Clement, of Port Barre, Julie McDonald and husband, Daniel, of Abbeville, and Ginger Liles, of Dry Creek; two brothers, John Arthur Murr, of Morgan City, and George Raymond Murr, of Mobile, Alabama; nine grandchildren, Leonard, Byron, Joshua, Jessica, Jilliana, Danielle, Scott, Abigail and Savanna; and six great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Jolie, Travis, Trevor, Journie and Xander.
Tommy is preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, JoAnne Lehamann.
