WAYNE JACKSON BUXTON

August 12, 1940 — March 5, 2017
Wayne Jackson Buxton, 76, a resident of Berwick, passed away Sunday, March 5, 2017, in his home surrounded by loved ones.
He was born Aug. 12, 1940, in Fredericksburg, Virginia, the son of Lloyd Gatlin and Louise J. Buxton.
Wayne was devoted to helping the deaf clubs in Raceland and Lafayette. He assisted and advised administration of the Louisiana School for the Deaf and mentored young deaf students. He enjoyed building model cars and airplanes. He was also an avid learner of U.S. military history; especially World War II and Vietnam. Wayne was a loving son, brother and friend that will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his one brother, Randy Buxton and wife, Brenda “Brandi” of Morgan City; two sisters, JoAnn Bailey and husband, William E. “Bill” of Reedsville, Virginia, and Laura Cohelan and husband, Timothy “Tim” of San Diego, California; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Wayne was preceded in death by his mother, Louise Jones Buxton; father, Lloyd Gatlin; and stepfather, Francis Cushing Buxton.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 8, 2017, at Twin City Funeral Home from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. Funeral services officiated by Pastor Steven Kelly will be held at Twin City Funeral Home following visitation. Wayne will be laid to rest in the Morgan City Cemetery.
