Prescription Drug Take-Back Day is Oct. 26

The National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday in the Tri-City area.
The U.S. Department of Justice’s Drug Enforcement Administration holds the day annually to provide a safe, convenient and responsible means of disposing of prescription drugs, while also educating the general public about the potential for abuse of medications, according to the Office of Diversion Control’s website.
Morgan City Police Department and Walgreens in Morgan City are the two local sites participating in Prescription Drug Take-Back Day. Bring any unused or expired medication to the sites for proper and safe disposal.
Walgreens is also having a customer appreciation day the same day. A $25 gift card will be given away as a door prize. The customer appreciation day includes a Halloween photo shoot featuring a free 4-by-6 photo for every participant, said store manager Jill Ward.
