At lunchtime Wednesday, the Morgan City Police Department was notified that a squirrel in Lawrence Park in Morgan City had its head stuck in what turned out to be a fast-food restaurant’s dessert cup top. The Morgan City police dispatched Animal Warden Desiree LaCoste to the park. After several minutes attempting to trap the squirrel in order to remove the object, the situation took care of itself when the squirrel looked down from the tree while upside down and the object fell off. “Not only does trash affect the environment, but it affects the animals as well,” LaCoste said.
